Why does catastrophic injury destroy some lives while others come to thrive? What are the secrets of resilience? And how do health care professionals become steadfast allies at the crossroads?
In an encore appearance this academic year, Lyena will be speaking to future providers in the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Departments regarding her unlikely relationship with spinal cord injury, and the daring personal journey that revealed how adversity, and the way we relate to it, can make us actually better than we were before.
Presented by the Women’s SCI Life Series Group, Lyena will be talking about the Shero’s Way, a new paradigm for relating to adversity that unleashes its creative potential.

Lyena was the keynote speaker for the San Fernando Chapter of the International Association of Women’s event 2018 A Year of Possibilities! Chapter President, Jamie Jackson, had this to say:
“Due to Lyena, the event was excellent. Our group totally resonated with what she presented. For anyone thinking about hiring a motivational speaker they should really consider Lyena for her authenticity, ability to speak on the topic of overcoming challenges, as well as her ability to engage with a group. [She] made the whole evening very special.”
